THE UB CHOIR AND THE CAMEROON NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
On the 28th of October, the Rt Hon.Cavaye Yeguie Jibril alongside women speakers and parliamentarians of commonwealth countries of Africa burst into a serious display of the various African choreographies at the hall of reception and at the hemicycle of the Cameroon National Assembly respectively. What a surprise! BUT how did it happen? This is the story.
At the foot of Mount Fako lies a great institution called the UNIVERSITY OF BUEA. This institution commonly known as UB; UNIBU; the Switzerland of Cameroon; etc is the only ANGLO-SAXON university in the Republic of Cameroon. It is an institution of great academic repute, one of the sources of the highly cherished order, the greatest value of the Anglophone Cameroonian.
Out of a passion to spread the holy word and a vision for an evangelical mission and a goal to render highly synchronized music in a tetrad harmony, a group of music lovers united to sing with joy and gave birth to the celebrated UNIVERSITY OF BUEA CHOIR commonly known as “The UB Choir.”

For the purpose of continuity and certainty in cultural
heritage, the pioneers created clauses in the constitution
which guarantee membership of graduates and owing to
this effect is the high quality in musical aptitude of its
choristers.
On this faithful morning of the 8th of September 2009,
yet to confirm sight the ever efficient form of knowledge acquisition creating an excellent long term memory and Quality performance, an ever promising source of Goodwill, Out of a quest for a quality entertainment and a mission to entertain guests with international status with the best, “The UB Choir must be present at the beginning, at the end and as the need may arise in the course of the 3rd Annual Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians Conference-Africa Region” Hon. Mary Muyali Boya épse Meboka says. They performed excellently at the South West Chiefs’ Conference in Kumba; She added. The name The UB Choir then became an item on the Conference’s agenda.

The UB Choir armed with selected musical pieces from just one of her music stores as well as songs composed for the occasion, entered the premise of the Cameroon National Assembly; it was 8:17 am on the 28 October 2009. A 30 manpowered Choir (from a group of over 70), as usual, accompanied by the famous Uncle Ndumbe (Head trainer par excellence) gained a comfortable sit at the Hemicycle of the National Assembly; it was 8:27 am of the same day. Filled with purpose and maturity, The UB Choir started immediately with a slow but steady supply of largos, larghettos, allegros and finally fortes. The hemicycle was filled with highly melodious and entertaining sounds of various wavelengths and amplitudes and there was an automatic annunciation of her presence; The UB Choir, identified by the reactions of her audience. There were immediate requests for more but unfortunately the best had to be saved for the last especially as the arrival of the Speaker of the Cameroon National Assembly, the chairman of the opening ceremony, was in the next 10 seconds. Few minutes after his arrival, guests of national status gave testimonies of the appearance of ghost pimples on their bodies just after the Cameroon National Anthem was sung. The situation became more interesting when guests with international status reacted with an immediate request for production on CDs the Commonwealth Women’s Anthem immediately after its rendition by the Choir. This same anthem harmonized by the UB Choir’s Music Director

The UB Choir, with a rich store of celebrated African musical pieces from the North, East, West and South of the Continent, 95% of the guests identified their representation in the form of music and choreographies rendered by The UB Choir in such an unprecedented form such that the Centre of the Hemicycle of the National Assembly of Cameroon became a dancing floor for all the women parliamentarians, both national and international. Morals were boosted, Initiatives were aroused and the women found themselves at home away from home.
At the reception of guests by the Rt. Hon. Cavaye at the banquet hall, same day, a litany of displayed achievements by The UB Choir was also observed to the extent that the Rt. Honorable himself could not resist but to add to the juvenile choreographic display that, filled with wisdom and adult excitement. In fact it was a must watched. Indeed it was a significant demonstration of acknowledgement of quality music rendered, in a matured form by the Rt. Honorable; someone whose sit has always been identified the most comfortable position against all odds.
Bravo UB Choir!!!!!!!!!! Keep the flames burning!
