THE GRAND TOUR, YAOUNDE 2009
A total of fifteen (15) choristers departed for Yaounde on Sunday 12th of July 2009 at 11 AM to join three others in Yaounde against some CRTV programs. This fraction of the choir is referred to as the Advance Party. We arrived at about 4:30 PM to lodge at Mola Singe’s apartment

List of Programs on CRTV
Sunday 12/07/09 5:30 AM Songs of Faith by Rose Nkwelle
Monday 13/07/09 6:30 PM Monday Show by Rose Epie
Tuesday 14/07/09 6:00 AM Hello! by Njie Mbonde Albert
A series of rehearsal sessions were organized prior to the Monday show conducted by the MD, Lekeate Elvis.

William Esapebong and Mukong Leonard spoke on behalf of the choir while we sang Laudate and Noyana to the lead solos of Jaff Jane and Kristiane (Kiki) Ekema respectively.

This performance was not only appreciated by other choristers, family, friends and fans but by all tele spectators of CRTV within the national territory and beyond.
Proof at this came form calls and messages received after the show “wuna be shine fo TV oohh”, “You people sing like Angels” etc
On Wednesday 15/07 we departed from the sweet comfort of Mola Singe’s lodge for relocation in the new site, St Therese Seminary Mvog, while awaiting the mass of the choir from Buea.

The rest of the choir body that left Buea on the same Wednesday at 1:30 PM joined us just after an hour spent at the new lodge; it was 5:30 PM. The excitement was immense as though we had not seen each other for years. The UB Choir is truly a family.
The first joint rehearsal session took place that same evening and to the excitement of every body was conducted by Jonas Mofa.

On Friday morning, we went to the University of Yaounde 1 for the first stage rehearsal in Amphi theatre 700. So many rehearsals, cold climate added to alcohol and soft drinks consumed the previous night made our voices questionable. One sure thing we needed was prayer, serious prayers.
From the Nigerian high commissioner that Friday evening, we went to the Basilica.

See how good it is outside and imagine how it can look inside. A grand religious musical show was going on inside involving Cameroonian and foreign solo singers.
The UB Choir was given two chances to sing but we failed to respond due to misunderstandings coupled with our extra tight schedule. This was however a great opportunity missed for the eve of our concert at Djeuga Palace Hotel, said the MD.

We woke up on Saturday and had almost two hours of prayer and worship, I felt the spirit of God with us. Confidence was regained and reconciliation was the word of the day.
After breakfast we moved to the concert hall at Djeuga Palace to reorganize ourselves into ushers, protocols and performers.
After lunch 25 choristers visited the famous CRTV journalist, Peter Esoka while those that stayed back rehearsed with the pianist.

The concert that night was a memorable one

We woke up Sunday morning happy for the achievements but rapidly preparing to attend three different Sunday services. How possible is that? Simple, the choir was broken down into three groups, carefully calculated by the Music Directors.
Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church
Catholic Church Mvogada
Presbyterian Church Bastos
Later that evening, we launched another concert at the Etoug- Ebe Baptist church, this time free to every one.

It’s true we missed the people we left behind before going to Yaounde, especially our families since it was during the holidays but all the same we would have loved to stay longer.
Thinking of not being with this family (The UB Choir) for close to three months was kind of sounding unlikely yet what can we do but shade tears.

Thanks to The Prime minister and Head of Government, Philemon Yang
The Vice Chancellor of UB, Professor P.K Titanji and wife
